Poring Hot Spring

Nestled half-way up along the road to Mount Kinabalu is an interesting area - the Poring Hot Spring. This is a naturally-occurring hot spring, with therapeutic hot or warm waters. You have a choice of either bathing in the open air with the other tourists or opting for the more secluded closed-bath.

Before reaching the Poring Hot Spring, you'll have to trek a short way through some jungle area and cross a hanging bridge across the Poring river before reaching the hot spring.

You'll notice some man-made bath/shower area (open-air) with wooden lattice-roofs. This was made to easily allow visitors to enjoy the warm/hot waters through a piping-system.

If hot springs are not your thing, you can enjoy the cool waters from the mountain by dipping into the swimming pools. Be sure to ask the locals which pools are from the hot spring and which are from the cooler Poring mountain river!

Poring hot spring offers activities for individuals and family alike. The area is also surrounded by jungle and is great for picnics.
